Screening of “Justin le Juste”, a film by Éric Barbier starring Alban Ivanov, Birane Ba and Alexandra Lamy (running time: 1 hr 50 min).
Inspired by Justin-le-Juste ou La charrette by Jean Pompougnac.
“1915. War is an unknown land to which Justin, a poor peasant farmer, is sent at a time when he should be tending his fields. He has to leave to fight, in the name of a law he knows nothing about, against an enemy he has never seen, when all he dreams of is staying on his farm.
His encounter with Basile, a Senegalese rifleman, opens his eyes to this war he does not understand. Together, they rebel against the injustices of an absurd military command, and Justin becomes a hero unlike any other.”
