A few words from the artist, CAROLINA VERANEN:
“You may be wondering: why dragonflies? Why watercolour and gold leaf?
I chose the dragonfly because it is light and graceful, and seems to dance with the wind, like a little flash of happiness passing by. It reminds us of the fragile and precious beauty of a moment that lasts no longer than a breath. Watercolour, with its transparency, allows us to glimpse what lies behind, like a tender memory. And gold leaf is that little touch of light, that warm reflection reminding us that even the simplest things can shine in our hearts.
But the true purpose of this exhibition is very simple: to bring you joy.
I hope that, as you look at the photographs of these paintings, a smile will light up your faces. I hope these dragonflies will become friends to you, little signs reminding you each day of something essential.
They carry a gentle message that I wanted to share with you today:
Enjoy life's beautiful moments.
Not only the great occasions, but also those little moments of happiness hidden everywhere. The warmth of a good cup of coffee held in both hands in the morning. The comforting taste of a slice of bread with butter slowly melting on it. A peaceful walk in the park, accompanied by a child's laughter or a bird's song. A shared glance, a hand resting on yours, a conversation between friends. All these things are treasures, the truest and most precious of all.
Despite its hardships, life constantly offers us these little gifts. Sometimes all we need to do is look up, or slow down, to see and feel them.
So I hope these dragonflies, displayed here close to you, will gently accompany you. I hope they will brighten your days, even for a moment, and that whenever you see them, they will be an invitation to love life, here and now.
Carpe diem. Seize the day, as you would pick a flower.
I wish you all a wonderful discovery of the exhibition and a moment of sharing filled with gentleness.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
