Discover the exhibition organised by the Tarn Department: “Terre d'asile, terre d'exil: Refugees and Internees in the Tarn During the Second World War”.

During the Second World War, the Tarn Department was a place of refuge, welcoming hundreds of people fleeing from across Europe and northern France. It was also a place of exile, with the establishment of two camps where men and women deemed “undesirable” by the authorities were interned.

This exhibition offers a brief insight into these events through a selection of documents from the archives of the Refugee Service and the Brens and Saint-Sulpice internment camps. These archives have been classified and catalogued and are available to researchers.

The exhibition is part of the Month of Remembrance, an opportunity to remember local history. On this occasion, the Musée des Mémoires Lacaunaises is also presenting a small collection outside the museum.

On Wednesday 4 November, Year 10 pupils from Collège Le Montalet will be able to visit the exhibition and attend a screening of the documentary “Station Lacaune, enfance gelée”.

Everyone is welcome at the Pôle Culturel at 8:30 p.m. for a free public screening of the documentary, organised with the Médiathèque Départementale.
