Theatre performance by the Occitan workshop troupe of the MJC de Saint-Baudille.

Don't let the title fool you into thinking that the almost triumphant tour of the Occitan workshop troupe from the MJC de Saint-Baudille has come to an end! More than 1,000 spectators have already enjoyed their production celebrating the little mountain train.

The troupe's next performance will take place in Murat, which, as everyone knows, was the terminus of the railway line from Castres.

“La cançon de la linha”, meaning “The Song of the Railway Line”, a theatrical and musical tribute to the old mountain train, will be performed on Saturday 7 November at 3 p.m. in the Murat village hall.

On stage, the scenery takes audiences back to the good old days of steam locomotives. A series of short scenes, performed in French and Occitan (with simultaneous translation), combine humour and poetry, drawing on texts by local writers such as Armand Landes, known as “Landou”, the poet and songwriter from Vialèles near Lacaze, and Yvonne Boyer, a poet from Vabre.

In just over an hour, the actors bring the much-missed little train back to life with humour and warmth, taking audiences on a journey from Murat to its terminus in Castres.

An event not to be missed!
