Erected at the entrance to the Ouvradous farm, this schist statue-menhir is intriguing for its engraved lines and its millennial history in the heart of the Tarn.
Exhumed in 1980 on the Puech du Roucan, in Saint-Salvi-de-Carcavès, the Ouvradous 2 statue-menhir was discovered a few hundred meters from its neighbors Ouvradous 1 and des Combarels, in an area known for its remarkable concentration of megaliths.
Carved from a 1.90 m high block of schist, it notably features a finely engraved belt, the only attribute clearly identified to date.
Authenticated shortly after its discovery by Jean Lautier and Marie Maraval, it was transported and erected at the entrance of the Ouvradous farm, where anyone can now admire it freely.
