The Little Train Tunnel of Lacaune: 235 meters carved in 1909, a unique railway relic recalling the line that once linked Castres and Murat-sur-Vèbre.
Dug in 1909, the tunnel allowed the small train to pass along the 87-kilometer rail network that included 17 viaducts and tunnels, finally opening up access to the Monts de Lacaune.
Today part of a small greenway, it can be crossed on foot or by bike. It offers a refreshing break and an intriguing detail: to protect rare bats, the darkness has been preserved — but don’t worry, lights switch on as you walk through!
A charming railway heritage site, nostalgically remembered by locals.
