A jewel of Lacaune, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption reveals its luminous stained glass, its retables signed by Greschny, and its monumental organ: a place filled with history and emotion.

Built in 1668 on the remains of an 11th-century chapel, the church of Our Lady of the Assumption is more than a religious monument: it is a living page of Lacaune’s history. From its porch marked with papal and royal coats of arms to the red stone cross brought from the former Saint-Étienne cemetery, every detail relates a centuries-old heritage.
Inside, the eye is caught by a striking play of light: on the north side, the stained glass windows celebrate the Eucharist with wheat ears and grape clusters; on the south, they evoke the elements: fire, water, wind and one window honours Saint Anthony, patron saint of the maseliers, accompanied by his faithful pig. The hammered copper tabernacle, the retables by painter Nicolas Greschny and the monumental organ inaugurated in 1991 complete this unique atmosphere.
