CHÂTEAU DE CALMELS, 81230 Lacaune
Le Château de Calmels
Calmels Castle and its magnificent park overlook the town of Lacaune, facing the mountain.

Dominating Lacaune-les-Bains, the castle stands in a region with a strong character and rich history. Built on the remains of a medieval fortress, this 16th-century residence originally served as a hunting lodge. The adjoining tower was used as a horse-training carousel and was originally crenellated before being covered with a conical slate roof.
The castle was rebuilt in the 19th century in a neo-Gothic style by Count Paulin Jacobé de Naurois. His son, Ludovic de Naurois, served for many years as mayor of Lacaune and contributed to the construction of the railway between Castres and Murat, as well as the creation of the thermal establishment and the casino.
